Hi, I’m Matt Green, a married father of four and live in the Colne Valley in Huddersfield. I am a wholetime and On call Fire Fighter for the local Fire Service. .
I have had a special interest in first aid for many years through my work as a fire fighter, becoming a casualty care instructor within the service for the past 15 years.
Over the years I have sort to expand my knowledge and have attended many extra training courses outside my role as a fire fighter.
Some of these include WEMSI Wilderness First Aid at Glenmore Lodge in Scotland, Casualty Care and Resuscitation course at St. James’s Specialist Teaching Hospital in Leeds, West Yorkshire.
I have also been a member of my local Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team completing their advanced casualty care training with it emphasis on remote treatment of casualties.
I am also a Community Responder for Yorkshire Ambulance service in the village of Marsden, setting up the group in 2005 and have attend many calls over the years dealing with life threatening emergency’s.
My interests outside work and first aid are cycling, I am a passionate cyclist completing many UK sportive events and riding several in France and Italy over the years. I also commute 35 miles a day to my work to keep fit.
My other interest include mountain climbing with my Springer Spaniel Sam which we have walked many of the Munro’s in Scotland and many local hills and fells near where I live in Slaithwaite, Huddersfield.
Also please meet the latest addition to the Green household, an 8 week old Irish Setter called Rowan.
GavinHey I’m Gavin Shaw, I have been a Fire Fighter for 17 years and I love my job. I also work on a retained basis which involves being on-call day and night.
If all that wasn’t enough I also volunteer as a community responder for YAS attending many different emergency calls and backing up the ambulance crew to time critical incidents and medical emergencies.
I have many different interests including; kickboxing, judo and weight training. My kickboxing and Judo also involves coaching of children and adults.
I am a married father of two girls and we live in the Colne Valley in Huddersfield.
Starting Simply First Aid Training is something I have long dreamt of and is an ambition of mine. Our main focus of Simply First Aid Training is to provide a superior training course utilising all our experience and knowledge gained from many years of exposure to real life emergencies. We have found that with our knowledge and skills people are leaving our courses well prepared and confident in the fact should first aid is needed they will be well prepared!
