Who is the Basic Life Support and Management of Anaphylaxis (Level 2) Course for?
This Basic Life Support and Management of Anaphylaxis Level 2 qualification is a 4 hour course, for people who have a specific interest or a responsibility at work, at home or in voluntary and community activities, in being able to provide BLS and manage Anaphylaxis when dealing with an emergency.
This qualification and learning outcomes are based on recommendations of:
- Resuscitation Council UK
- Skills for health assessment principles for first aid qualifications
Please note as an employer, if you have members of staff with medical conditions such as asthma, allergies, diabetes or a heart condition – and these are detailed in your risk assessment – the HSE recommend that you consider completing our First Aid at Work Course. This is because these conditions are no longer covered in the first aid for appointed persons or emergency first aid at work course.
What will you learn from this course?
On successful completion of the course candidates should be able to:
- Know the role and responsibilities of the first aider within there environment
- Communicate with a casualty and other emergency service, perform a handover
- Assess the situation and circumstances using DRABC in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
You will also learn how to Administer first aid to a casualty who:
- is unresponsive and who is breathing normally
- is unresponsive and who is not breathing normally
- Know how to recognize a casualty with Anaphylaxis
- Be able to manage a casualty suffering with Anaphylaxis
Assessment and Certification
On completion of the course you will be awarded with a QA Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Management of Anaphylaxis (QCF). This qualification allows learners to apply to the UK Learner register and receive learner credits for successful completion of the course (please notify when booking if you wish to be registered for learner credits). The certificate is valid for 1 year, The learner needs to retake the qualification before the expiry date to remain qualified.
Learners must be 16 years old on the first day of the course.
Candidates must be physically able to carry out the procedures detailed in the course outline and must attend all sessions to be eligible for assessment.
Reasonable adjustments can be applied for and considered at the time of booking.
