Who is the Emergency Paediatric First Aid Course (Level 2) for?
Suitable for people 18 years and over, this course is designed for those who wish to learn first aid skills for babies and children. This course is not a suitable for anyone requiring First Aid at Work qualification.
The course is perfect for parents, expectant parents, grandparents, babysitters, foster parents and carers of babies and young children. If you require a course to mind for a child please go to our 2 day Paediatric First Aid for Child Carers Course which conforms to Ofsted guidance.
This is a one day course consisting of 6 hours of training, normal course times are 9:00am to 4:00pm but this course can be made flexible for individual groups as required and could be split into 2 hour blocks over 2 to 3 weeks to meet your needs, please call to discuss flexible course times and dates.
What will you learn from this course?
On successful completion of the course candidates should be able to:
- Dealing with an emergency first aid situation
- Administer treatment to an unconsciousness (breathing and not breathing)
- Deal with a choking adult, child or baby
- Correctly treat wounds and bleeding
- Burns & scalds
- Sprains & strains
- Correctly treat seizures
- Deal with infants and children with a raised temperature raised temperature
- Recognise severe allergic reactions
- Where and how to get help
Assessment and Certification
After completing a final assessment successful candidates receive a Level 2 Qualsafe approved qualification. We highly recommend you refresh your skills after 12 months on a half day Pediatric First Aid Annual Refresher Course to prevent skill fade
First aid for babies and children is designed to teach you a range of first aid skills to cope with emergency situations for babies and children 0-14 years. We include lots of practical exercises because we want to give you confidence in dealing with a real life emergency. Delegates must be physically able to carry out the procedures detailed in the course outline. The also course covers adult information as well.
